Although Roundhouse withdrew production of MOUNTAINEER in December 2016, I was able to purchase a new MOUNTAINEER from Kent Garden Railways in March 2017.
The locomotive was in black with Radio Control, the next steps were to have the engine painted & lined in the Ffestiniog Railway green that I remember MOUNTAINEER in, so well.
Following the purchase of MOUNTAINEER, she was dispatched to Matt Towel at Barley Pit Works for re-painting & lining into the FR green livery I remember so well. Matt also refitted new RC supplied by Chuffed 2 Bits. I have also ordered a set of MOUNTAINEER nameplates from Narrow Planet, I felt that the Roundhouse plates supplied with the engine just didn’t look right? The final touch was to have Matt fit a Candlebridge Tramway “Roundel” on the bunker!
Since arriving back at Boot Lane, I have fitted a pair of Swift Sixteen Chopper Couplings as replacements for the original RH couplings.
