A battery-powered mining locomotive, designed & built at Boot Lane Works. JOEY was delivered as one of a pair, to the Knotty Ash Treacle Mines in 1947. Named after the two ponies they replaced, the second engine, MATTY returned to Boot Lane in 1952, surplus to requirements and subsequently converted to diesel power.
JOEY remained at Knotty Ash until the mines closed in 1972 when his fate seems difficult to determine.
