A battery-powered mining locomotive, designed & built at Boot Lane Works. JOEY was delivered as one of a pair, to the Knotty Ash Treacle Mines in 1936. Named after the two ponies they replaced, the second engine, MATTY returned to Boot Lane in 1953, surplus to requirements and subsequently converted to diesel power.
