Released at the Midlands Garden Railway Show (March 2025), this kit is a freelance model of a 0-6-4 Single Fairlie locomotive. It follows no specific prototype but draws inspiration from the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway Single Fairlies, Moel Tryfan & Snowdon Ranger.
Codenamed HEIDI, the model is our first venture into 3D-printed wheels, following much experimentation in creating a printed wheel.
It also represents our first six-coupled model. It comes complete with a 3-6volt motor, nylon worm gears, 36mm printed wheels (and Peter Binnie wheels for the rear bogie), all on 1/8" stainless steel axles, and the necessary metal stock, nuts, screws & washers required to build the model in the photos.
Also included in the kit is a micro slide switch (with a corresponding laser cut hole in the tank top) and a selection of resin-printed detail parts.
Access to a small "bench vice" is a MUST, to build this kit.
Building instructions are included with the kit.
Although not for beginners, the kit is reasonably easy to construct and requires basic tools, glue, paint and batteries to complete.
There is adequate room in the tanks & boiler for batteries and your choice of RC unit.
Batteries, RC or any electrics (except micro switch) are not included in the kit.
